The Grande Seconde represents the essence of the Jaquet Droz art of watch making. The brand has changed the composition of its dial, for the first time integrating a sapphire dial into a skeletal design. Bathed in light, the balance of the Grande Seconde is found in the contrast of full and empty surfaces.
The sapphire dial, on which the large second hand turns, allows one to admire the skeletal movement, which is constructed in successive layers, visible from the side. The base plate is now completely openwork, while the casing ring has been eliminated, allowing extra light into the heart of the movement. At 12 o’clock, the hours and minutes turn around a sapphire hour ring mounted on a gold base. Five indexed screws, which can be oriented in any chosen direction, hold the ensemble together.

Plus: The objective of this design is to let light shine to the deepest reaches of the Grande Seconde, while preserving the figure “8” shape that is its aesthetic signature.
