A contemporary aesthetic with controlled nuances
February 2025 – Audemars Piguet makes a new statement of elegance with the launch of two new models in the Code 11.59 collection, made for the very first time in stainless steel.
Presented in Selfwinding and Selfwinding Chronograph versions, these creations celebrate refined sobriety, enhanced by subtle shades of slate grey contrasting with details in “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50”, the Manufacture’s emblematic hue.
The art of contrast and light
The all-steel cases feature alternating polished and satin-finished surfaces, underscoring the geometric complexity of this iconic collection.
The two-tone visual signature is expressed on the textured dial, embossed with a concentric pattern inspired by waves on water, designed with guilloche craftsman Yann von Kaenel. On the Chronograph model, the counters are adorned in deep PVD blue, encircled by rhodium, while the Selfwinding version retains a more refined aesthetic.
Beneath a double-curved sapphire crystal, every detail is brilliantly revealed. The elongated hands and hour-markers, in 18-carat white gold, are faceted and luminescent for optimal readability, even in the dark.
The whole is enhanced by a grey textured rubber strap, lined with calf leather.
Unparalleled mastery of steel
Steel, far more complex to work than precious metals, required a year of research and the creation of a dedicated team to meet Audemars Piguet’s standards of excellence. The emblematic horns of the Code 11.59, welded to the ultra-thin bezel with surgical precision, illustrate this technical requirement. Each part undergoes extensive resistance testing, confirming the robustness of a material crafted with care and precision.
Precision mechanics designed for today
Inside, these timepieces beat to the rhythm of the latest generation of AP calibers:
- The Selfwinding features caliber 4302, with hours, minutes, seconds and date, and a 70-hour power reserve.
- The Chronograph is powered by caliber 4401, an integrated movement with column wheel, vertical clutch and flyback function, guaranteeing smooth, jerk-free release.
Each movement, visible through the sapphire caseback, reveals exemplary finishing: Côtes de Genève, satin-finish, polished bevels and a 22-carat rose gold oscillating weight specially engraved for the collection.
